Meet the Players

This months Christmas edition of the Meet the Players the JDCC is delighted to introduce up and coming talent Elliot Morris. Elliot started his career at the club playing juniors in the U13’s competition in the 2013/2014 season debuting into senior cricket 2 years later taking 3/44 in his first 4th grade game.

Last season was undoubtedly one of his best taking a total of 50 wickets through the season playing U17’s, 4’s, 3’s and colts where 3 of these he took 5 wickets and claimed his current best figures of 6/60. As well as having a stellar year with the ball Elliot’s talents extend to the bat making a half century in both 4’s and 3’s and in his stand out game in 4’s against Rockingham-Mandurah made 83 and took 5/50.

All this hard work has payed off for Elliot being offered a spot in the U19’s national championships playing for WA this year. Currently playing 2’s he also debuted in the Premier T20 cricket side against Perth yesterday and while the team couldn’t claim a win Elliot claimed 2 key wickets for a total of 2/30. A promising and ambitious talent hopefully the New Year and rest of the season brings more outstanding performances from the 18 year old.

How would you describe your U19’s experience?

It felt really good to represent my state and I really enjoyed the experience of playing a professional and high intensity game with elite athletes which made me stay focused on my game

What are your goals for the future?

Everyone dreams of playing state and international so hopefully that but I would like to have a career at the club playing 1’s and then eventually captaining 4’s to teach the up and coming players what I know and what I’ve learnt starting from where they are

Who is your cricket idol and why?

Nathan Lyon because I am a an off spinner as well and his style has inspired and guided me into developing how I bowl today
