Junior Club Presidents
At JDCC, we are changing the way we approach the trials for our 2024/25 junior squads, in response to the latest WACA requirements for trial dates and offers to players for position in squads for the 2024/25 season.
Changes to the Junior Premier Cricket Trail Regulations
As you may be aware, the WACA have changed the way that district clubs will undertake the processes for selecting teams for the 2024/25 premier cricket season. The key changes are as follows
- Trials cannot be held prior to 1st Feb 2024
- Offers cannot be made to any players until 1st March 2024
- Players must come from the home zone, or the immediately adjoining zone
- The players zone is defined by where they reside, not which community club they play for
- The age cut off for the development squad and U13’s for the 2023/24 will be assessed as being under the age of 13 at 1st September 2024 (not 1st July 2024). All other age groups remain as being assessed at 1st July 2024.
JDCC Juniors Approach
At Joondalup Districts Cricket Club, to enable us to efficiently evaluate players for inclusion in our squads for next season, we have changed the way that we will approach the trial process. Key changes are:
- Trails for the Development Squad (U12’s) and Under 13’s teams will be held at Iluka District Open Space (the home of JDCC) on 2nd, 5th, 9th and 12th Prospective players are only required to attend one of these sessions. Sessions will be held from 4:30-5:45pm.
- Trails for the Under 14’s teams will be held at Iluka District Open Space (the home of JDCC) on 2nd, 5th and 9th Prospective players are only required to attend one of these sessions. Sessions will be held from 5:45-7:00pm

- Our U14 girls trials will be held on Friday 16th February, with a short list trial to be held by invitation on 23rd February. This is our inaugural U14 girls team, and it would be great to get as many girls as possible involved.

Invitation to trial
Players that are identified by the respective community clubs as being of potentially suitable capability to play district cricket, are invited to trial with JDCC, subject to the residential address requirements outlined above. It would be appreciated if you can distribute the registration details above to the prospective players that you or your coaches have identified.
Registrations for the trials will close on 26th January 2024, to enable selectors to prepare for the trials. Each trial is limited to a maximum of 48 participants, to ensure that selectors can adequately evaluate each player. We will of course monitor the levels of interest, and potentially add additional sessions if we deem that necessary.
